Today we are happy to offer for sale a lovely vintage Gail Packer signed and numbered limited edition “La Barberie” print in a custom Hildy Henry frame! Gail Packer (1945-2008) studied at Ohio State, graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Wayne State in Detroit, and studied with the Fort Mason print-makers in the mid 1970’s. Packer’s limited color aquatint etchings were inspired by her varied interests in the middle ages, the decorative arts, ancient civilizations, and her environment in California. The image and color of each etching was produced from running multiple copper plates through the printing press. She created etchings of the Normandy region of France where Claude Monet lived and worked, the wine country of Northern California, the coast of Big Sur, and a series of months of the year. Parker used fine detail to illustrate her subject matter, incorporating painting techniques with intaglio printing. A nationally recognized artist, Packer’s etchings are showcased in many private and corporate collections. Her final print depicted Rocky Point in Big Sur. The beautiful, custom wood frame is hand-painted by Hildy Henry who specialized in folk art furniture, picture frames and interior decorating since the early 70’s. She began doing frames for Gail Packer in the early 80’s to compliment the etchings of Ms. Packer. This delightful print, hand-signed by the artist and numbered 26/125 is titled “La Barberie” and depicts a beautiful French Normandy Tudor farmhouse cottage with a pasture field and roaming cows. The print features warm and inviting colors and Gail Packer’s signature romantic style. The print is mounted in a Hildy Henry custom hand-polychromed frame from 1986 with plexiglass. Print and frame both present beautifully and are in excellent vintage condition, with very minimal display wear. This beautiful and unique artist print will add elegance and vibrancy to any interior! A special piece for a special buyer!
