Today we are happy to offer for sale a wonderful 1950’s British Jaeger speedometer for the MG TD sports car! The MG T series is a range of body-on-frame open two-seater sports cars with very little weather protection that were produced by MG from 1936 to 1955. The series included the MG TA, MG TB, MG TC, MG TD, and MG TF Midget models. The last of these models, the TF, was replaced by the MGA. MG, the initials of Morris Garages, is a British automotive marque registered by the now defunct MG Car Company Limited, a British sports car manufacturer begun in the 1920s as a sales promotion sideline within W. R. Morris’s Oxford city retail sales and service business by the business’s manager, Cecil Kimber. Best known for its two-seat open sports cars, MG also produced saloons and coupés. This 1952 speedometer was manufactured by British Jaeger, which was a line produced under license by Smith Industries (founded in 1851), well-known British supplier of speedometers, tachometers and various other clocks for the instrument panels of MG, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce and just about every other British-based automobile manufacturer. The speedometer features a pearlized aqua face with domed glass cover. The piece is marked “British Jaeger/SS582/X 650222/25 1600/Made in England”.The speedometer presents beautifully and is in very good vintage condition, with wear/scuffing/oxidation and patina commensurate with age and type of use. Speedometer is being sold as-is – ready for easy refurbishing. This is a rare and hard-to-find Speedometer from an iconic English car company! A great piece for Rat Rods, or for any car or bike project in general. From a frozen in time New England garage. Fresh to the market!
