Today we are delighted to offer for sale a beautiful vintage Native American Vincent sterling and heishi gemstone necklace! Heishi jewelry is believed to be the oldest form of jewelry making in New Mexico, and perhaps in all of North America. The word heishi means “shell,” although today the term is often used to reference small handmade beads made from many different natural materials. Making quality Native American heishi necklaces is a time-consuming, labor-intensive process, but the stunning results are worth the effort. This fabulous necklace, crafted by Native American artist Vincent (and signed on the back) is finely crafted and detailed. The necklace is composed of color-block heishi bead disks of polished turquoise and pink granite. The necklace is adorned with a beautiful marked sterling silver butterfly pendant with geometrical etched detailed. This timeless statement necklace will add style to any outfit you wear! Necklace presents beautifully and is in very good vintage condition, with very minor wear, tarnish and patina commensurate with age. A fabulous piece for a fabulous buyer…Fresh to the market!
