A bit of info on the artist: Adriano Dalla Valentina was born on Murano in 1945 (he passed away in 2019). He began to work in the furnace at the age of 10. For the next 14 years he worked in many different furnaces, and so perfected his style. This vast experience made it possible for him at the early age of 24 to found his own independent studio. Over the years he has built a reputation as a great Master of Murano glass, a model for future generations. He has been dedicated to working extensively with the students of the Art Institute of Venice – winning design awards – thanks to his passion for glass and his desire to preserve the tradition of Murano. He expresses his talent using many glassworking techniques, but is best known for the typical Venetian style based on murrine and glass rods. He shares his experience with renowned architects and designers, creating their projects out of glass. His works have appeared in many exhibitions, including the “Premio Murano” award, the art show “Da Murano a Roma nel mondo” held in Rome. He has shown his work in France at the “Salon International des Artistes Verriers” in Tours in 1997. In 1988 Adriano presented “Quattro Stagioni” at the second edition of “Venezia Aperto Vetro” at the Doge’s Palace in Venice. In October 1988 Adriano showed his work at the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in collaboration with various Art Institutes. Adriano Dalla Valentina’s masterpieces are currently on exhibit in major European cities, in museums in Japan and art galleries in America. It is hard to describe Adriano’s creations, but easy to fall in love with them. The colours, the taste and the designs blend harmoniously to bring the finished product to the highest level of production. Adriano offers an original interpretation of glass-making in the twentieth century. His valuable collaboration with his young son Stefano, who graduated from the Art Institute of Venice, has increased production and brought with it a new wave of enthusiasm. The top level of his production is reserved for connoisseurs and lovers of pure and timeless art. This vase features Valentina’s hallmark high style and fine craftsmanship and artistry. The modernist piece is crafted of hand-blown multi-color molten murano glass. The piece features a swirled combination of muted earth tones with highlights on ochre and pea green with touches of pale blue. The piece features two wing-like sides centered in the middle with an insect-body like glass applique. The vase appears to resemble a dragonfly, moth or other winged insect. The surrealist piece is thought-provoking and is sure to become a conversation piece of any interior. The piece is signed on the bottom “Valentina”. Vase presents beautifully and is in very good vintage condition, with very minimal display wear and patina commensurate with age. There are a few areas of roughness/manufacturing imperfectons along the top edges, all part of the hand-made nature of the manufacturing process. No chips or cracks.
