BUY WITH CONFIDENCE. GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC AND AS DESCRIBED OR YOUR MONEY BACK! Today we are happy to offer for sale a fabulous pair of vintage 1950s-60s Premco ceramic Asian lamps! This fun and retro pair was manufactured by Premco, a renowned pottery manufacturer known for its famous TV lamps which were hugely popular in the 1950’s and 1960’s. In the 1950’s, the first decade of mass television adoption, there was a common belief that watching TV in low light could damage one’s eyesight. But early televisions, with their dull luminescence, were best viewed in the dark. So the TV lamp was invented to add a little light to the room and dispel people’s fears. This wonderful pair of lamps is nicely crafted and detailed. The lamps are in the popular Asian-inspired Chinoiserie style and feature a ceramic junk ebonized and highlighted in gilt, with a boy and girl figure on either end, both wearing Asian outfits and hats. The lamps feature fabulous 7-tied red metal Pagoda suspended lamp shades. Each tier is connected to the next with a fabric strip giving the shades delicate movement. The lamps look wonderful when turned on and will make a truly unique conversation piece in any interior! Lamps present well and are in good vintage condition, with minor wear/oxidation and patina commensurate with age. There is minor loss to painted finish on figures and boats. Lamp shades have minor wear/scuffing and a few small repairs to fabric strips that support tiers. Add fun and retro kitsch chic style to any interior with these fabulous Chinoiserie lamps…Fresh to the market!
