Today we are happy to offer for sale a beautiful vintage original Jorge Dumas Sembrando Ilusiones (Sowing Illusions) lithograph! A bit of info on Jorge Dumas (1928-1985): South American artist Jorge Dumas was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. The earlier part of his career was spent studying under fellow Uruguayan painter and “father of Latin American Constructivism,” Joaquin Torres Garcia. During these early years of Dumas’s career, in the Cubist tradition, his unique abstract paintings did not deal with the human form in a representational manner. The eventual shift to his now notable delineation of the human form was prompted by his travels to the South American countries of Bolivia and Peru, after having lived with gypsies and miners. In the mid-sixties, while teaching painting and drawing, Dumas still found himself haunted by his impressions of the people and events encountered during his travels. The remnants of these influences allowed Dumas’s work to transform into his unique abstract style that he is known for today. Dumas leaves behind a legacy reminiscent of the Mexican School, yet so quintessentially his own. His impressive paintings, lithographs, prints, etchings, and collographs have been exhibited in major international and American cities. This charming, Sembrando Ilusiones (Sowing Illusions) litho is masterfully executed, with Dumas’ traditional style and technique. The print depicts a caring father sitting on wooden log at the beach with his small son on his lap. The child holds the picture of a sail boat and the father points at the calm horizon to help the child visualize the boat. The print features warm and inviting bold colors and is expertly printed and detailed. The print is double matted and framed in an elegant, museum-quality wood frame, and is ready to be hung, admired, and enjoyed! Signed, titled, and numbered by the artist at the bottom. Litho presents beautifully and is in excellent condition, with very minimal display wear and patina. Frame is in very good condition, with minimal wear/scuffing. This is a great opportunity to own a wonderful art print from a noted South American artist! A wonderful and one-of-a-kind painting that will add elegance to any interior. Would make a thoughtful Father’s Day gift too! Fresh to the market!
