Today we are happy to offer for sale a very rare Wallace Chippendale Sterling Silver tray!
Wallace Silversmiths was founded in Prospect, CT in 1815 and is still in business! This elegant tray is expertly crafted and detailed.
The piece is in the streamlined and refined Chippendale pattern, introduced in the 1940’s and characterized by soft scalloped molded edges giving the pieces a timeless and classic look. This pattern is seldom seen done entirely in sterling silver, most often the only pieces found are silver-plated, making this serving tray quite rare. Marked on the bottom “Chippendale by Wallace Sterling 5973”. The tray is great for hors d’oeuvre or any other culinary delicacy worthy of a fancy sterling tray!
Tray is in good vintage condition, with expected light surface wear/scuffing, tarnishing and patina commensurate with age. There is one very small distortion to one of corner panels (can easily be buffed out by a jeweler). Add elegance and style to any fine sterling collection with this classic tray.
