Description
Today we are delighted to offer for sale a beautiful and large Palmette sterling silver centerpiece bowl by the most desirable of makers, Tiffany & Co!
This beautiful centerpiece bowl is finely crafted and detailed and part of the elegant and timeless Palmette pattern, which was originally introduced in 1947 and is still sold by Tiffany. The large, traditional piece features a simple bowl adorned with five palmette Art Deco feet. The simplicity of the bowl is only enhanced by three vertical embossed lines above each foot. This piece was a lavish wedding gift to a young newlywed couple from the 1950’s; it has been monogrammed with a fanciful DNG on one side (it and can be turned so that the monogram is not visible); and engraved on the base “To Diane and Norwood With Love from Trixie and Jimmy June 25 1955.” What a wonderful gift to receive! No doubt this beautiful and prized bowl took pride of place in the dining room of the couples home. The bowl is marked on the bottom “TIFFANY & CO. MAKERS STERLING SILVER 23239M.”
This bowl presents well and is in very good vintage condition, with minor wear and patina commensurate with age and light use. It has some very light surface scratches. There is a small and faint 1″ crease on the bottom of bowl, which can be no doubt be corrected by a jeweler if you’d even bother. The bowl is quite heavy-walled so the monogram/inscription could also be removed. Please review all photos before purchasing. This fabulous bowl will add gracious refinement to any tablescape in your home this holiday season!
