DESCRIPTION: Today we are delighted to be offering for sale a gorgeous antique Gorham Old English Tipt 85-piece sterling silver service. This simple, classic pattern was introduced in 1872 and was produced for nearly 140 years. These pieces are marked with an ornate “W” monogram on all of the handles (except for the cream soup spoon).
The flatware set is crafted of fine sterling silver; pieces are all marked on the back “Gorham Sterling” and the knives/weighted pieces are also marked “Gorham Sterling Handle/Stainless Blade.” You get 12 of almost all of the dining flatware, except for the five small dessert spoons and the lone cream soup spoon. This lot includes:
12 dessert forks – 6-1/2″ in length
12 dinner knives – 8-3/4″ in length
12 butter knives – 6-1/4″ in length
12 teaspoons – 6″ in length
12 tablespoons – 7-3/4″ in length
5 small teaspoons/dessert spoons – 5-1/2″ in length
1 cream soup spoon – 6-1/4″ in length
1 small cake/dessert server – 7″ in length
1 spreader – 7″ in length
1 large serving fork – appx. 9-1/8″ in length
3 large serving spoons (two pierced, with tines) – appx. 9-1/8″ in length
1 preserves flat spoon – 6-1/2″ in length

Knives and cake server have sterling handles and stainless blades.
The whole set comes in a beautiful oak case with brass hardware, a monogrammed “W” plaque on top. It has one drawer, and a swivel knife caddy. Inside is lined with green velvet.
CONDITION: Set presents very nicely and is in very good antique condition, with some moderate wear/scuffing, scratches and tarnishing from age and use. Set is sold in as-found condition; if you wish for these pieces to be professionally cleaned and polished after your purchase, we can do so for a small fee.
