Description
Today we are delighted to offer for sale beautiful and rare Buttercup pea spoon by Gorham!
The Buttercup pattern is a beautiful ornate style, with elegant scrollwork and multiple dainty flowers accenting the handles of the sterling serving pieces in the line. First produced in 1899, its timeless style has made it a popular choice through the decades since.
This particular piece features a solid handle covered in ornate flower and scroll detail, leading down to a generously sized bowl. The bowl has some scroll work around the top and is pierced in a floral and scroll pattern to allow for broth drainage when serving peas or other vegetables. It is marked on the back with Gorham’s makers’ marks (a lion, anchor, and letter G), along with the words “Sterling” and “Patent 1900”. The handle is monogramed “FEV”.
Spoon presents beautifully and in very good condition, with minor wear, tarnish and patina commensurate with age and light use. Please review all photos. This very hard to find Buttercup piece would make an impressive and elegant addition to any fine sterling collection. Fresh to the market!
