Today we are excited to present for sale a beautiful “Cabbage Rose” cup and saucer set by Aynsley!
Founded in 1775 in Staffordshire, England, the Aynsley China company has been a favorite of the British royal family for decades.
This lovely set is crafted of fine porcelain and features a deep cobalt blue glaze with lavish gilt trim along the borders, handle and base. The saucer has gently scalloped edges and fluted sides, leading down to a crisp white center, offset with more gilt trim. The teacup is simply gorgeous, with its rich cobalt exterior and gilt pedestal base and handle. The interior features a painted cabbage rose scene, with pink, red, blue and purple flowers in autumnal hues against a bed of leaves and a golden yellow background. The design was painted by and is signed “J.A. Bailey.” Both the cup and saucer are stamped in green accordingly by Aynsley on their undersides.
This set presents beautifully, with minimal display wear and patina commensurate with age, and no chips or cracks. Please review all photos.
