Description
Today we are pleased to offer for sale a fabulous and rare Lenox sterling overlay compote!
This exquisite piece is beautifully crafted and detailed. The piece is made of fine Lenox bone/cream colored porcelain and features a scalloped edge oval bowl tapering down to a short stem and round pedestal base. Across the top and sides, glorious curved leaves and vines in sterling silver with vermeil create a striking Art Nouveau/Rococo style overlay. The piece is marked on the bottom accordingly with the Lenox green stamp, dating it from 1906-1930. The bottom edge is stamped “Fine 925 1000 Silver” and “Shreve, Crump and Low” the renowned luxury retailed which originally sold this lovely piece. A rococo cartouche on one side of the compote’s bowl is left blank and is ready for a monogram.
Compote presents beautifully and is in very good condition, with minor wear and patina commensurate with age. The overlay has tarnish and patina and a few areas of losses/darkening. No chips or cracks have been noted.
