Here we have a beautiful pair of brass triple-arm sconces. The arms are easily installed or removed for use individually and mount in square peg holes along the base. These sconces display a patina which is truly exceptional. There are no marks or branding of any kind but we believe this pair of sconces is perhaps pre-1850 due to the styling of the eagle which displays the Federal period influence as opposed to the American bald eagle more popular in modern times.
With an eagle fixed atop as the centerpiece and two lions which mirror each other as symbiotic styling touches, these fixtures are comprised of solid brass (or perhaps bronze) and thus weigh over a solid 3 pounds each. Visually these pieces are stunning and are also guaranteed fully functional and authentic. The mountable base part of the sconce includes a nail or screw hole placed between the eagles feet and is about 9″ tall and 5″ inches wide. The arms which hold the candles are 6.5″ long and 4.5″ tall.
Sconces are overall in gorgeous antique condition, having expected typical minor asymmetrical incongruities in the metalwork and negligible losses to the finish. Otherwise they are in great condition and are ready for use and display or collection. Please see all pictures for a closer look.
