Automobilia collectors, take note! We are offering an exceptionally rare and wonderful original 1929 large photograph of a 1929 Dodge Six from New York! This is an all-original automobile portrait, either taken or commissioned by a very proud owner of their new car: a 1929 Dodge Six sedan (also called the Dodge Brothers Model DA). In 1929 this car sold for $995, which is $13,868 in today’s dollars. (As car buffs know, the ’29 Dodge and DeSoto Model K are nearly identical, but the Dodge badge on the radiator, hood vent pattern, and the hubcaps prove it’s the former.) The sepia image is exceptionally crisp, from the 1929 New York license plate (#83-23) to the Fisk Balloon tires, to the Dodge Brothers hubcaps and winged badge on the radiator. Judging by the bare trees in the background, it was taken in either late autumn or early spring. The image measures 9 5/16″ x 7″ in the original mat and in a wooden frame measuring 14 3/8″ x 13 3/4″. The image is signed on the mat “Hartmann”, and appears to be the work of a professional photographer. The reverse of the frame shows a black paper backing and a copper wire for hanging the picture. We guarantee that the image is original and has never been removed from the frame. This is the finest automobile portrait we’ve ever had the opportunity to offer for sale! If you’re a collector of pre-war automobiles, a fan of Dodge vehicles, a New York history buff, or lover of the Roaring Twenties, this photograph would make an excellent addition to your collection!
