Today we are pleased to offer a lovely fluted compote or footed dish made by Northwood Glass, c. 1908. This beautiful piece is done in purple carnival glass with a golden iridescent finish in the Wishbone Pattern. It features and intertwining pattern of iris flowers, leaves, stems, stamens, and circles around a daisy patterned center motif. The pattern on the outside is Ruffles and Rings. The dish has a sawtooth edge and ruffled top, and sits on three cirlicue feet. Measures 8″ across, 2.75″ height, 1 7/8″ across polished base. Signed with an underline N for Northwood Glass Company, Wheeling, West Virginia. Very good antique/vintage condition. One small 1/2″ scratch to coating on the outside of the piece as well as one small rub. There a few straw marks on the outside as well as a line (slice mark) which runs horizontally near the top edge, about 1/3 of the way around, which you can feel with your finger; but is not a crack or break. There is one 1/4″ rub on the inside on the edge of one bud and a 1/2″ incised line at the upper edge. Most of these imperfections are from manufacture rather than damage, as these were inexpensively made novelty pieces. Fresh to the market from a Rhode Island estate.
