This fabulous pair of earrings is intricately and expertly crafted and detailed. The wonderful modernist settings is finely crafted of marked solid 14k gold; the setting features interlocking gold “shards” that form an oval frame inset with two rare and beautiful fire agate polished cabochon specimens.
Fire agate, a variety of chalcedony, is a semi-precious natural gemstone discovered so far only in certain areas of central and northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. Approximately 24-36 million years ago these areas were subjected to massive volcanic activity during the Tertiary Period.
The earrings feature French clip backs.
Earrings present very well and are in very good vintage condition, with very minimal wear/tarnishing and patina commensurate with age.
