Today we are pleased to offer for sale a lovely vintage Le Tallec for Tiffany & Co porcelain tureen and underplate!
The renowned Atelier Le Tallec (founded in the early 1900s) has created hand-painted porcelain tablewares for famous individuals such as Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Kings Mohammed V and Hassan II of Morocco, the Ville de Paris or the French Republic, amongst others. The company was acquired by Tiffany & Co in 1990.
This elegant tureen and underplate set is finely crafted and detailed. The set, crafted after 18th century Rococo originals by Sevres, features a tazza-shaped tureen with ornate handles; the underplate with fitted slot also feature ornate foliate handles. The whole is hand-painted in a lavish gilded trellis pattern with colorful and delicate floral medallions. The pieces are marked on the bottoms “Tiffany & Co Private Stock Hand Painted in France” and “LLG” (Le Tallec marking). The piece can be used to serve culinary delicacies or as an orchid/floral cachepot.
Tureen and underplate present well and are both in very good vintage condition, with minor wear and patina commensurate with age. Tureen lacks its lid. There is minimal loss to gilding. The bottom of the underplate has minor glue residue from felt protectors.
