Today we are thrilled to be offering for sale a truly awesome and retro vintage 1950’s mid century modern Harvey Guzzini chrome and fiberglas lamp! Harvey Guzzini is often mistakenly thought to be the name of a lighting designer active in the 1960s and 1970s. But in fact the label belongs to a lighting manufacturing company, which was founded by six Guzzini brothers—Raimondo, Giovanni, Virgilio, Giuseppe, Adolfo and Giannunzio—who were inspired by the 1950 film Harvey starring James Stewart. Compounding the historical record even further, it seems that the Guzzini company rebranded many times in the 20th century, going by, at various points, Harvey Creazioni, Harvey Guzzini, Guzzini, iGuzzini, and Illuminazione Guzzini. The company is headquartered in Recanati, Italy and still in business! This very cool lamp is made of chrome metal, and features a mid century streamlined design. The lamp features a round base from which a curved stem is attached to with two mounting rods. From the curved stem hangs a round fiberglass pearlescent shade. The shade has a pearly/nacre finish. The piece features the original, 78″ long, cord and swith. The lamp is in perfect working condition. The lamp is unsigned but folks in the know will immediately recognize this as the work of Guzzini and knowledgeable collectors will know that these pieces went unmarked. The lamp is in very good vintage condition, with very minor wear commensurate with age. There is very minimal oxidation; there is a small spot of corrosion on the top right side of the stem that holds the shade. There is very minimal scuffing to shade. The original felt cover on the bottom is torn and peeled away from base. Lamp is in working condition. This is a great opportunity to own a fabulous piece of mid century modernist lighting! This elegant lamp will add Mid Century elegance to any interior. A fine and unique piece…Fresh to the market!
