Description
Today we are happy to offer for sale a rare antique Georg Jacon Leipzig watchmaker lathe!
This piece was made by the renowned Georg Jacob of Leipzig, Germany. The company was founded in 1877 and produced watch bracelets, capsules, watch mechanisms, tools for watchmakers, jewelry, etc. This is a great antique and original gear wheel cutting milling machine for wrist and pocket watches (to recut the gear wheels). It is fully functional and features brass and steel components, with the blade spinning when the big wheel is cranked. It is mounted to a flat wood case with one drawer. The drawer is filled with numerous attachments and accessories (please see photo), some of the blades are made by “L. CARPANO”. The machine is marked “Georg Jacob Leipzig”.
Lathe presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with minor wear, tarnish and patina commensurate with age. All gears turn smoothly. Belt has a lot of wear and will need to be replaced. Although the lathe appears to be complete it has not been checked for completeness. The wood case has minor wear and scuffing. The assorted accessories and attachments have wear from use and age. Please review all photos before purchasing.
These gearwheel cutters are rarely offered in such great quality and condition. This is a must have for every watchmaker and collector of antique tools and a real eye catcher which would be great for decorations in a shop window. Fresh to the market!
