Today we are happy to offer for sale a wonderful antique Edwardian early mohair teddy bear! This sweet and cuddly creature is wonderfully crafted and detailed. Although un-marked, the pieces bears resemblance in quality, craftsmanship, and construction with bears made by renowned makers Chiltern and Steiff. The bear is large (21″ tall) and features blond mohair fur, with brown stitched mouth and nose, and applied brown and black glass eyes. He wears a regal royal blue velvet bow. The bear is jointed and his arms, legs, and neck can turn and move. The palm of his paws is finished in plain cloth and his hand and feet feature brown stitching. This delightful early teddy is in remarkable shape given his age and was no doubt a treasured possession cherished by a lucky child long ago. Teddy bear presents well and is in good antique condition, with wear and patina commensurate with age. There is minor scattered loss to mohair. Stuffing below neck area is loose causing head to slightly tilt forward. This great antique bear will make a fine addition to any antique teddy bear collection. Fresh to the market!
