Chinese Bouquet is a true Herend classic. Originally created in 1930 for Hungarian aristocrat Count Albert Apponyi, the pattern features a Chinese Export-inspired motif of a stylized rust-colored peonies surrounded by a garland of leaves with 24K gold rosettes. Hand painted in Hungary.
This delicate pair of candlesticks is beautifully crafted and detailed. The candlesticks each feature a round beveled base with lattice weave textured border, painted with Chinese Bouquet rust flowers and detachable double-light upper structure with two twisted candle arms, reticulated floral bobeche and candle-cup. The base can be used for a single candle if desired. The candlesticks are each manufacturer-hollowed inside and are ready to be electrified if desired. All pieces marked with Herend shield.
Pair presents well and is in very good vintage condition, with very minor display wear and patina commensurate with age. There is minor wax residue inside candle cups, and minimal loss to gilding. No chips or cracks.
What a wonderful addition to any fine porcelain collection…Fresh to the market!
