Description
These glamorous and highly stylish vases date to the late 1920s and are the epitome of high French Art Deco. The vases are the creation of the renowned ceramist and porcelain decorator Maurice Pinon, active in France in the early 1900’s. The vases are beautifully crafted and detailed. Each piece features an elegant, elongated baluster-shaped body with dramatic Art Deco geometrical handles and neck ring. The vases feature a deep and rich Cobalt Blue (Bleu de Roi) ground, beautifully decorated with hand-painted with a central floral bouquet motif, with scattered stylized flowers throughout. The handles are lavishly gilded, with the neck ring being hand-painted with a stylized floral motif. Signed by the artist (“Pinon – Maurice”) on the right lower corner below each central floral motif. Additionally marked on the bottom (albeit the markings are faint). These fabulous vases will look stunning on a sideboard/console, fireplace mantel, and will add high Art Deco style to any interior!
The pair of vases present beautifully and are in very good antique condition, with minor display wear/scuffing, tarnish/patina commensurate with age. There is minor loss to gilding on edges of handles. No chips or cracks. Please review all photos before purchasing.
This outstanding pair of monumental vases will make a crowning addition to any fine Art Deco collection. A special pair for a special (and discerning) buyer. Fresh to the market!
