Today we are thrilled to offer for sale a stunning and rare vintage 1960’s Glashütte Limburg bubble glass dome light fixture! Glashütte (Glassworks) Limburg was founded in 1946. Today Glashütte Limburg is a member of the Bega group – a high-end manufacturer of architectural lighting for public spaces like hotel lobbies… sold only through authorized reps. The company still exists and they make beautiful lighting.
This fabulous and iconic Mid Century Modernist ceiling fixture dates to the 1960’s. The piece displays the high-quality of Limburg’s glass-making technique and skill. The fixture features a large and beautiful smoky quartz-colored clear bubble (aka: seedy) glass dome, which is mounted to a brass-plated metal ceiling pan. The pan features the original knobs that tighten it to the glass dome. The fixture features four US standard 60w light sockets. The fixture retains all of its’ original parts.
It presents beautifully and is in excellent vintage condition, with very minimal wear and patina commensurate with age. The glass done is in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks. The ceiling mount fixture has very minor scuffing around the top edge and very minimal loss to plating to lip of fixture that goes up against the ceiling.
