This stunning religious piece would have been used during Catholic mass celebrations to house and protect the Eucharist, otherwise known as the communion that becomes the Body of Christ. Crafted of bronze with a gleaming satin finish, this dome-style tabernacle was created by Excelsis Bronze and features a wide cylinder shape with a rounded, locking door (key included). Inside, the chamber is lined with white fabric (and an additional linen piece to keep the floor of the chamber clean) and features a removable curtain rod (unavailable on newer models) with white and gold-trimmed curtains. The front of the door has the Catholic “XP” (Chio Rio) symbol. A finial atop the dome has the IHS monogram, symbolic of Jesus Christ, and an eye over the letters.
Tabernacle presents in good vintage condition, with minor to moderate scratching on the metal (only noticeable upon up-close inspection), but no apparent dings or other damage. Time-earned patina commensurate with age, display, and storage present on the metal only enhances its beauty. We gave it a light cleaning; you may wish to do more.
Dimensions: appx. 24″ in height (including finial), 12″ in across front, 13″ in base diameter
