TITLE: Antique Weller Pottery Muskota Art Deco Leda Swan Figural Flower Frog Basin Bowl
DESCRIPTION: This is a rare and beautiful Weller Pottery Leda and the Swan figural frog and basin! This exquisite piece is made by Weller, and is an Art Deco figural flower frog and matching basin.
This set is part of the Muskota Line, which was created by artist Rudolf Lorber in 1915, and is finely crafted and detailed. The flower frog/tulipiere features the beautiful figure of Leda sitting on a rock in water with Zeus, disguised as a swan, at her feet. The frog’s surface has 12 openings for placement of flowers or bough. The piece is marked on the bottom with the Weller stamp. The frog comes with its matching water basin bowl. The piece features an elongated octagon shape with shallow inner bowl that is supported by a low pedestal base. The interior of the basin is glazed a pale lavender while the exterior is glazed pale blue/green. The piece is also marked with the Weller stamp.
CONDITION: The set presents well and is in good antique condition, with minor display wear and patina commensurate with age. The figural frog has minor wear, crazing and patina. The neck and arms of the figure have old repairs/cracks; the left wing of the swan has an old repair/crack. There is a small chip on the bottom rim of frog. The basin has minor surface wear and scuffing. Flowers are not included. Lot sold as found – please review all photos before purchasing.
