Today we are happy to offer for sale a beautiful antique Amphora Austria ceramic vase!
This fabulous vase dates to the late 19th/early 20th century and is the epitome of Amphora’s fine craftsmanship and design. The piece is finely crafted and detailed. The vase is the designed in the organic Jugendstil style and features a short rotund body, with basket-weave like pattern and curved handles on either side. The body features a matte blue/green/teal almost dichroic glaze and is decorated with applied clusters of grapes and berries, with the leaves being highlighted in luminous, high-gloss glaze. The vase is marked on the bottom “(crown)/Austria/Amphora/11581”.
Vase presents well and is in very good antique condition, with minor display wear and patina commensurate with age. As always seems to be the case with Amphora, it’s not absolutely perfect. It’s close, but one leaf – top left near right handle is broken off/chipped. You’ll really need to hunt to find it, but otherwise this piece is in great shape. Amazing that it survived so nearly unscathed.
