Description

This stunning piece, most likely of French or Continental origin, dates from the mid- to late 1800s. The vase is finely blown of glass in a trumpet-shape, with a ruffle edge, and four-leaf shamrock-shaped base. This vase was most likely used to display the vegetable celery, which was quite rare and expensive in Victorian times, and cost a small fortune!

The vase is lavishly decorated with hand-applied gilded edge borders. The front of the vase features a towering gilded raised design of lovely daisy flowers.

Piece presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with very minor wear and patina commensurate with age. The applied gilding has minor fading in a few areas. No cracks or chips on vase. There are a few normal and very minute fleabite chips along the bottom edge of the base (very hard to see with a naked eye).

Dimensions:
Height: 15-1/4″
Diameter of mouth: 7-1/2″
Diameter of base: 6-1/4″
