Today we are happy to offer for sale an antique and all-original wood painted fishing decoy!
This wonderful piece is nicely crafted and detailed. The large fish is hand crafted of carved wood and weighted with metal weights. The decoy features two sets of metals fins and a carved wood dorsal fin. The piece is hand-painted in a red and white color scheme, with green tail, resembling a Koi fish. The mouth includes small nails as teeth. This decoy was most likely used for spear or ice fishing.
The piece has a great time-earned patina. Decoy is in good antique condition, with wear, oxidation and patina commensurate with age and type of use. There is surface scuffing and losses to painted finish. The tail of fish has deteriorated and is partially missing.
