Georg Arthur Jensen (1866-1935) was a Danish silversmith and founder of Georg Jensen A/S (Danish designer company with focus on silverware, founded in 1904). Introduced in 1915, the Georg Jensen Acorn pattern has since become a sterling silver icon. A collaboration between Jensen and designer Johan Rohde, Acorn reflects a timeless marriage of Art Nouveau and Art Deco design that looks as elegant today as it has for more than 100 years. This pair of ice cube/sugar cube tongs is in the rarer larger 5″ size. The piece is marked “Georg Jensen Silversmiths/ Sterling Denmark”. Piece presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with very minor surface wear/tarnishing and patina commensurate with age and use.
