Today we are delighted to be offering for sale a gorgeous vintage Manchester Amaryllis 65-piece sterling silver service with NO MONOGRAMS! The Manchester Silver Co. was founded by William H. Manchester as W.H. Manchester & Co in the year 1887 in Providence, RI. The company subsequently acquired the tools and dies of Richard Dimes Co. around the 1950s. They manufactured both sterling silver flatware and hollowware. Manchester Silver Co. lasted until 1985, when their dies were sold to Boardman. This exquisite pattern, named Amaryllis after the lovely and delicate flower, was introduced in 1951. The pattern is noted for its’ elegant and ornate Baroque decoration. This beautiful service of 65 pieces includes an extra set of 12 tea/dessert spoons, which any hostess/host would find most useful when that extra unexpected dinner guest arrives! The flatware set is crafted of fine 925 sterling silver; pieces are all marked on the back “Manchester Sterling/ Amaryllis” and the weighted handle knives are also marked “Manchester Sterling Handle/Stainless Blade”. The total weight of the set without the filled handle items is 2254 grams. Quite a substantial service!
