Today we are delighted to offer for sale a lovely antique French ormolu picture frame with a beautiful painted portrait! This exquisite 19th century frame is finely and intricately cast in gilt bronze, in the Louis XVI style that was made popular again by Empress Eugenie during the 2nd Empire in France. The frame features a top crest ribbon from which cascading flowers surround the frame and intertwine at the bottom. The frame contains a hand-painted portrait of a lovely noblewoman wearing a substantial black pearl earring and a fine and delicate lace costume. The frame can be used on a flat surface with the built-in easel and also hung on a wall with the loop on the back. In very good antique condition, with minor wear and tarnishing commensurate with age. Portrait has minor wear and crazing commensurate with age. A small treasure that will add Proustian elegance to any room in your home or business. Fresh to the market!
