Today we are delighted to offer for sale a beautiful mid century bronzed resin statue by Carl Romanelli for Josten’s!
Carl Romanelli was a famous 20th century sculptor who is best known for his Elvis Presley statue outside the Hilton hotel in Las Vegas. He sculpted likenesses of many famous people throughout his career, and also did smaler projects, such as his series of small figural statues for Josten’s, a memorabilia company.
This figure is crafted of gilded, bronzed resin and features a couple sitting together on a flat rock, holding hands. Both are dressed in 1960s hippie garb; he wears a close-fitting shirt with open button-down over it and a medallion around his neck. His pants have wear around the knees and a cut-off looking hem, and his hair almost touches his collar (scandalous!). She sits against him, her head leaning against his, hair parted down the middle and hanging down her back. She wears a matching medallion necklace, an open vest or deep-V blouse, and a short skirt. Both have bare feet and contented expressions. It is signed “Romanelli” on the front and “Josten’s 9110 USA” on the back. The bottom has four round felt pads to protect whatever surface it is displayed on.
Statue presents in beautiful vintage condition, with minimal wear, patina and marks commensurate with age. Some minor tarnish is present in certain areas, but no obvious damage, chips or cracks have been noted. Please review all photos before purchasing. This lovely statue would make a fantastic addition to any bohemian or mid-century decor. Fresh to the market!
