Today we are excited to offer for sale a fabulous vintage 1970’s Bernhard Rohne for Mastercraft Brutalist/Modernist mirror! Mastercraft, founded in 1947 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is dedicated to creating hand-constructed furnishings for the home that withstand the test of time with tremendous grace and style. Bernhard Rohne (b. 1944) is a renowned German-born Canadian artist specializing in art infused with chemistry. Bernhard Rohne’s original art pieces are unique, one of a kind objects that have been extensively hand-worked by Bernhard at multiple stages in the process. During their transition from basic sheet metal to finished product, art pieces may undergo various stages of acid etching, chemical oxidizing, hand coloring and extensive hand finishing. This wonderful and stylish mirror was designed in the 1970’s by Rohne for Mastercraft. This large (over 50″ in height) and very heavy mirror is finely crafted and detailed. The piece features a solid ebonized black wood frame adorned with an inner composed of brass acid-etched panels. The panels have a Brutalist etched design highlighted by the oil-slick-like chemical reaction of the acid etching creating a molten sheen. The mirror is nicely beveled and will look great in any modern and traditional interior, creating a truly unique conversation piece focal point! The mirror presents well and is in very good vintage condition, with very minor wear and patina commensurate with age. There is very minor scuffing to sides of wood frame. Ready to be hung and enjoyed! Add high-end decorator retro mod style to any fine interior with this one-of-a-kind mirror…Fresh to the market!
