This fabulous snuff/trinket box is finely crafted and detailed of jeweler-tested silver; the piece is hallmarked on the bottom accordingly. This late 19th/early 20th century box features an oval-shaped body with low-relief repousse rococo rocaille side detailing.
The lid of the box features a magnificent scene of a imposing galloping horse pulling a grand sleight driven by a gallant coachman; a regal woman of noble bearing and wearing a large hat and fur muff sits proudly in the sleight with a swan at her feet. The woman appears to be Russian Empress Catherine the Great. In the background is a farmhouse with a tall hipped roof. The box delicate and intricate detailing are quite exquisite.
The piece presents well and is in very good antique condition, with minor wear/tarnish and patina commensurate with age.
