Today we are thrilled to be offering for sale a rare and wonderful 1950’s pair of figural urn Bacchus Capodimonte lamps! These colorful statement lamps are expertly handcrafted by Italian artisans. Each lamp is hand-cast and hand-painted. The lamps feature molded relief decorations of a faun playing a pipe to dancing putti surmounted by grape bunches and vines. The handles of the urns feature the caryatid of Bacchus, who was the Roman god of agriculture, wine and fertility. The lamps feature a green, celadon, and gilt color scheme with purple accents. The urns are mounted on a undulated-shaped square gilt metal base with felt-covered bottom. The lamps both have the original harps and finials. The finials feature a green glass polished cabochon “stone”. The lamps have the original cords which measure 5 feet in length. Both lamps present beautifully and are in very good vintage condition, with very minor display wear/scuffing, and patina commensurate with age. There are very minor casting and paint differences/imperfections in the lamps owning to the hand-made nature of the pieces. Felt covered bottoms both have tears. Both lamps are in working order. No chips or cracks. This whimsical and fantastical pair of lamps would be just grand in a wine cellar! These lamps will be THE conversation piece pf any interior. Fresh to the market!
Dimensions of each lamp: 31-3/4″ in height (includes harp and finial); 8-1/2″ in width (at the widest point), 7-1/4″ in depth
