Blue White Salt Glaze Basket Weave Morning Glory Stoneware Tobacco Humidor Jar
$350.00
In stock
Today we are delighted to offer for sale a wonderful antique salt glaze basket weave blue and white stoneware humidor/canister/jar! This handsome piece dates to the early 20th century, and features an intricate basket weave Pattern with “Tobacco” in a banner embossed on the front and a Morning Glory flower on the back. The piece has very strong mold lines, indicating it was made early in the life of the mold. The jar features a lovely blue/white/light gray color, with wonderful salt glazing. A similar piece to this one is featured in Taylor and Lowrance, Collector’s Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, on p. 195. This is one of the harder pieces to find in this kitchen set. The jar is in very good antique condition, with very minimal wear and patina commensurate with age and type of use. There is a very small chip along the bottom edge rim. There is a very small chip/stable (and very faint and hard to notice) fracture along the outside of the top rim (see last photos). Unfortunately no lid. This is a great opportunity to own a RARE and truly beautiful antique stoneware canister! This beauty will make a wonderful addition to any saltglaze stoneware collection. Fresh to the market!
