Today we are excited to offer for sale a handsome pair of antique cast iron Owl fireplace andirons! These big and whimsical andirons are finely crafted of cast iron. Each piece features a patinated black painted finish. The pieces have a warm and time-earned patina that is just wonderful! The andirons are cast and shaped like owls perched on a tree branch. Each owl features round glass eyes that light up from the flames of the fire. The andirons are un-marked but most likely the work of Howes Foundry of Boston, Mass. The andirons are in good antique condition, with wear and patina commensurate with age and type of use. There is mild oxidation to cast iron. The andirons do not come with log holders. One of the andirons is missing part of the log holder insert (see last photo). These parts can be easily harvested from another pair of lesser andirons. The glass eyes have been painted over (paint can be easily removed). Pair sold as-is. Add old New England charm and warmth to any interior with this pair of andirons which are sure to be the conversation piece of any room! Fresh to the market!
