Today we are delighted to be offering for sale a gorgeous Victorian glass and gilt trumpet vase! This stunning piece, most likely of French or Continental origin, dates from the mid to late 1800’s. The vase is finely molded of glass in a trumpet-shape, with a round base. The vase features a lovely shade of amethyst purple glass, with a clear glass overlay on the bottom. The piece is lavishly decorated with hand-applied gilded enamel detailing of flowers, in the Rococo 2nd Empire style. The vase presents beautifully and in very good antique condition, with minor wear and patina commensurate with age. The applied gilding has minor fading in a few areas; the gilding on the base is mostly worn off. No cracks or chips. There is a slight manufacturing imperfection at the point where the vase connects to the base. Does not affect stability or integrity. This substantial vase will add old world style and grandeur to any interior! A lovely antique that is the epitome of fine Victorian style and craftsmanship. Fresh to the market!
