Today we are pleased to offer a pair of antique footed bon bon dishes. These lovely pieces are made with a rectangular foot or stand, a pretty reticulated pattern on the inside of the dishes, and a heavy repousse patterns of scrolls and leaves around the edge. They are marked on the bottom “S M (or MS)” in intertwined letters in a shield, possibly the work of Barker Bros/Barker Ellis of England. There are also several sets of lightly engraved/scratched numbers on the underside of the bases as well. The dishes measure 7″ w x 4 1/2″ d x 2 1/4″. Although we are calling them bon bon dishes, they certainly can be re-purposed for a variety of uses today. What an elegant presentation! In very good antique condition with no dents of dings. Very light surface scratches from use. Fresh to the market from a Rhode Island estate.
