Today we are delighted to offer for sale a pair of lovely vintage David Chadwick Kaufman chinoiserie watercolors!
These colorful and whimsical watercolors were beautifully hand-painted and executed by David Chadwick Kaufman, an artist from Chevy Chase, MD, in the mid 1970’s. One watercolor depicts a Chinese warrior on guard investigating a stone building with high bamboo trees in front where a coin purse lies on the ground. The other watercolor depicts the evil judge Ming Sung Tsien receiving bribes from his servant Lai Wang. The watercolors feature bright and vivid colors and detailing. The judge Ming watercolor is matted with blue matting while the Warrior watercolor is not matted but attached to the blue ground instead. Both pieces are frames in gilt bamboo-style wood and glass frames. Each watercolor is signed.
Watercolors and frames present well and are in very good vintage condition, with very minor display wear and patina commensurate with age.
