Description
Today we are thrilled to offer for sale a rare and quite wonderful 1950’s Harry Callahan original photograph!
This beautiful gelatin silver print is mounted on board and signed by the artist on the lower right corner. The photo is part of a series of photos taken in 1958 in Aix-en-Provence in southern France. The photo depicts a reed/weed or part of a wheat stalk. The long, ribbon-like leaf is sensuously and dramatically draped on itself and photographed against a stark black background. The dramatic and timeless photograph is framed in it’s original understated silver-leaf wood frame with glass front.
Photograph presents beautifully and is in excellent vintage condition, with no fading, damage, or repairs. Frame is in very good vintage condition, with very minor wear and scuffing to corners. This is truly a wonderful opportunity to acquire a rare and special work of art by one of the most important American photographers of the 20th century.
