Today we are delighted to offer for sale a beautiful antique Eugene Piron French bronze nude statuette! Eugène Désiré Piron (1875-1928) was a renowned French sculptor. Piron specialized in figures cast in bronze and portraits, within the Art Nouveau and early Art Deco style. He also created public monuments, and was the recipient of the Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1903. This small and sensuous gilt bronze figure is finely crafted and detailed. It depicts a nude young maiden dancer, posing with her legs demurely crossed while holding a pair of castanets. She has a lovely visage and her short hair is tied with a ribbon across the top. The bronze features a wonderful time-earned gilt patinated finish. The piece is signed on the left side of the square base “Piron”, and is additionally marked “Bronze” on the back. Figure presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with very minor wear, tarnish and patina commensurate with age. This precious French bronze will make an outstanding addition to any fine Art Deco art collection…Fresh to the market!
