Today we are excited to offer for sale a stunning Victorian or Edwardian era crescent moon brooch. This piece is made in 14K yellow gold and set with graduated sized seed pearls. According to Victorian custom, the crescent moon was associated with femininity and change, symbolizing the ebb and flow of life. Victorian brides wore crescent moon brooches cradling a flower on their honeymoons, representing “the magic of the moon and the sweet nectar of the flower.” This fabulous piece is marked on the body of the pin 14K with a maker’s mark and 14K on the clasp. The mechanism is a round hinge with a C clasp. This wonderful feminine pin presents beautifully and is excellent antique condition, with very minor slight signs of wear consistent with age and use. A special addition to any antique jewelry collection and a lovely gift for a soon to be bride! Fresh to the market from a Rhode Island estate!
