Today we are delighted to offer for sale an exquisite antique Japanese bronze Ise Ebi figure! In traditional Japanese symbolism, the Ise Ebi (spiny lobster) symbolizes longevity, since it lives so long and because of its’ trailing “whiskers”. This Meiji-period masterpiece is expertly and intricately cast and detailed. The figure is meticulously detailed with life-like presence. Although not articulated, this piece recalls the great Jizai articulated bronze pieces of 17th century Japan. The lobster is signed on the bottom with the artist’s signature in Kana. The lobster presents very well and is in very good antique condition, with very minor wear and patina commensurate with age and type of use. A truly special piece of Japanese design and craftsmanship that will make a wonderful addition to any fine bronze collection out there, and will be sure to the THE conversation piece in your home or business! Fresh to the market!
