Today we are excited to offer for sale an original Art Deco-period pottery vase made by Fulper! Fulper Pottery Company was incorporated in 1899 in Flemington, New Jersey. It made art pottery from 1909 to 1929. Fulper Pottery introduced the first line of solid-color dinnerware in 1920. The firm had been making bottles, jugs, and housewares from 1805. Doll heads were made about 1928. The firm became Stangl Pottery in 1929. Stangl Pottery is still in business! This exquisite and stylish piece features one of the rarest forms that Fulper ever produced: the ellipse. The piece is cat-eye flambe glazed in a multitude of earthy tones that harkens back to the Arts & Crafts period; the glazes blend together in melting look creating a most pleasant effect. The modernity of the Art Deco design is shown in the relief zig zag motif that gives this piece motion and movement. This piece can be used as a vase or a bowl. In like-new antique condition, with very minimal wear. The bottom is stamped “FULPER”. This rare and lovely Fulper art pottery piece will make a wonderful addition to any fine collection. Fresh to the market!
