The piece is un-marked but is the of same caliber as pieces made by Limoges or Meissen. The oval-shaped porcelain plaque is finely and precisely hand-painted. This miniature portrait depicts a lovely green-eyed raven-haired young lady. This elegant Victorian/Edwardian woman was no doubt a High Society belle of her time, as evidenced by her regal jewels and fine clothing. The porcelain plaque is framed by a gilded ormolu double-rope frame of great quality. The pin was no doubt commisioned as a gift so that the receiver would be able to carry this young lady’s portrait with them and admire her beauty.
