Today we are thrilled to offer for sale a stunning antique Dresden Schumman hand-painted soft paste porcelain tea set! This magnificent 3-piece service is expertly and intricately crafted and detailed. The teapot, sugar, and creamer set is meticulously and precisely hand-painted in the manner of Helena Wolfsohn, and manufactured by Porzellanfabrik Carl Schumann. Wolfsohn was a highly-respected German antiquarian and decorator of porcelain blanks, which she obtained from a variety of different porcelain companies from circa 1843 until 1883. Helena was most famous for the decorative pieces she turned out in the distinctive ornate French Rococo style. The pieces were highly ornate and featured brightly colored flowers, shells, and foliage. Helena painted in the Dresden/Meissen, and Sevres style as many highly skilled decorators did in the Dresden area of Germany at that time. The renowned Porzellanfabrik Carl Schumann was originally founded in 1876 and operated until 1994. This tea set features a prominent Canary yellow ground color reminiscent of the color of the fabulous paneling in the Voltaire room at the Palace of Sanssouci in Potsdam, near Berlin. The teapot, sugar, and creamer all feature beautiful and vibrant painted floral bouquets and sprays highlighted by rocaille and arabesque tracery gilded borders; the lids of the teapot and sugar feature low relief treillage detailing. The pieces are marked on the bottom with the Carl Schumann “DRESDEN, SCHUMANN, BAVARIA” mark used between 1918 and 1929. The set presents beautifully and is in excellent antique condition, with very minimal display wear. There is very minimal wear to gilding. The teapot has a very small chip on the edge of the spout, other than that there are no other chips, cracks or restorations. Add elegance and grandeur to any interior with this stunning hand-painted porcelain masterpiece tea trio. Fresh to the market!
