Today we are happy to offer for sale a lovely antique 19th century Chinese export porcelain teapot. This exquisite piece is hand-painted and embellished in a Famille Rose/ Rose Medallion pattern, which features a multitude of bright and vibrant colors such as green, pink, and gold. One side of the teapot depicts a group of imperial courtiers lounging in an elegant courtyard overlooking a beautiful garden, while the other side depicts a colorful birds perched on a flowering tree branch that grows out of a large flower; butterflies flutter around the landscape. Each scene is framed by intricate floral c-scroll borders. This piece was made in China for the European market, where the demand for high quality Chinese export pieces was in great demand in the 18th and 19th centuries. Teapot is in very good antique condition, with very minimal wear and patina. There is a very small professional repair along the other edge of the flange; and a small chip out of the underside of the lid. There is a very small (and hardly noticeable) manufacturing flaw on the front scene between the court ladies and the court men. Overall a most pleasing piece that will add refinement and elegance to any fine collection. Fresh to the market!
