Today we are delighted to offer for sale a gorgeous all-original Keramis vase designed by Charles Catteau, from the Art Deco period! Boch Freres-Keramis was founded in La Louviere, Belgium in 1841 and was in business until 1985. This beloved company was famous for creating objets d’art of unquestionable artistic quality. This earthenware faience vase was designed by Charles Catteau (1880-1966) who was a world-renowned French Art Deco industrial designer. The vase, model number D1173, is made from a slip-cast form and features decoration enamelled with geometric flowers and foliage in burnt umber and black on an intententionally crackled white ground. The body is decorated with four juxtaposed groups of stylized flowers, connected at the neck and foot by stylized leaves. The vase presents beautifully and it is in very good antique condition, with very minimal wear and patina from being on display. There is one minor and virtually invisible from the outside stable hairline surface imperfection on the inside of the neck, hence the great bargain price. This is truly a wonderful opportunity to own an iconic piece of high Art Deco artistry and craftsmanship. Pieces like this don’t come on the open market very often.
