Today we are delighted to offer for sale a lovely antique 19th century Palmer & Bachelders 925 sterling silver pastry server! The partnership of Palmer & Bachelders was formed in 1846 by Julius Palmer, Augustus E. Bachelder, Isaac M. Bachelder and Josiah Bachelder. Palmer’s son Jacob P. Palmer joined the firm c. 1856 to become Palmers & Bachelders. Additional partners joined in 1864 and it became known as Palmer, Bachelder & Co. from 1864 until its’ closure in 1884. This elegant and refined pastry/cake/pie server features a lavish and ornate Baroque-inspired floral design with scalloped edging on the bowl of the server. The back top of the handle is elegantly monogrammed with the letters “T P Y”, perhaps this elegant and no doubt costly at-time-of-manufacture piece belonged to one of the prominent Boston Brahmin families (Palfrey/Peabody/Parkman/Putnam)? The piece is marked on the back “Palmer & Bachelders/925”. Server presents very well and is in very good vintage condition, with minor wear/scuffing and tarnishing commensurate with age and type of use. No doubt will polish up to like new if you so choose. This lovely server will add WASP elegance and grace to any fine silver collection. Fresh to the market!
